B.K.S. Iyengar brought yoga to the people

B.K.S. Iyengar died on Aug. 20, 2014, at the age of 95. During his life, he searched for ways that allowed everyone to experience the benefits of yoga. He came up with many inventive yoga pose modifications. His inventions help each person feel the actions in their body and beyond.

Mr. Iyengar is accredited with the integration (and even invention in some cases) of props such as blankets, blocks, belts, special benches, chairs, bungees and ropes. Mr. Iyengar might even have been the first person to put a student on a mat!

Today we miss Mr. Iyengar, however his teaching lives on through his son, granddaughter, and many more worldwide certified Iyengar yoga teachers. There are tributes to him everywhere.
